Memoir, 1941-1945.

Memoir of his time as a POW in various Japanese prison camps in the Philippine Islands during World War II. Memoir is entitled "It Did Happen Here" and was written in May 1945. Includes comments on the brutality of his captors, fellow prisoners, work detail, food, illness, punishments, and rescue by the Americans in 1944. He survived the Bataan Death March.

Captain Robert C. Strong was a 1922 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy. He was CO of the Receiving Station at Cavite, PI when the Japanese bombed and overran the islands. He surrendered to the Japanese, took part in the Bataan Death March and was interned in various prison camps in the Philippines Islands. From the description of Memoir, 1941-1945.
